In the last weeks of Melbourne, I was able to pull all my resources together & test the waters in my first ever CUExperiments market. It was in the back of my mind as something to do while traveling, & with little time for the opportunity left, I gave it a go. For someone more focused on travel experiences than designing, I couldn’t believe how much I had made!
Having done market-style events for others in the past, there was no way I wasn’t coming prepared. The booth beside me was very thankful for the scissors, tape & pins I had brought with me “just in case”. Best help was Dana, for grabbing me coffees when I needed them & just being great company :)

Speaking of Dana’s Aussie family, I have never been so beautifully taken care of by a “stranger” family before. Far from strangers now, they took us both in so wonderfully & made us feel at home so well. To thank them for their help & support in those 6 months, we took them out for dinner before saying our final goodbyes.
Thanks to Sylvia, Mimo, & their girls Melanie & Natalie for making that time in Melbourne even more wonderful.

PS I love how it looks like the only meal we could afford to buy them was pizza… The restaurant was known for their wood oven pizzas, that’s all.
Sun setting at Southbank. Roses still in my hair. Been a relaxing city day. (This new CUExperiments wreath should be available fairly soon.) (Taken with Instagram)
A little bit of Alice inspiration…

First Market! (Taken with Instagram)
Byron Bay was a great little place to stop. Being not so far away from Surfers Paradise & with only a quick stop to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary we arrived fairly early that day. (With the zoo the day before, I didn’t end up taking any more animal photos at the sanctuary. I did hear a koala squeak, watch a parrot try to escape, & spent a lot of time drinking coffee & watching wombats.)
It was great having from afternoon until late morning in Byron without anything planned. For the umpteenth time we headed out for the evening (& played some jenga) & in the morning I was able to have a relaxing coffee without being rushed onto a bus.
Worst thing about Byron Bay? It’s not a great place to have a late dinner. Places close way too early & then your only options become high priced organic restaurants… At least, that’s where we finally decided to go.
