It’s not my full name but those near & dear to me have often call me Cory. I’ve created this blog to showcase my work, creative process, travel stories, & day to day life & inspirations. My last set of stories come from a year traveling from Canada to Australia. You can read up on all my recent traveling endeavours at Adventure 2012
I’m a 20-something Business Graduate with a flair for creativity. I live to create inspired pieces from patterns I personally design. Crocheting in particular has been a technique I’ve been able to perfect after being taught at the age of 7. Other artistic outlets include sewing, beading, doodling & at one point in time even lace making.
The drive & inspiration for CUExperiments
came from the last few years of attending Uni. During my third year, I realized I didn’t have any creative outlets & was going crazy analyzing business cases non-stop. It was the first time I had nothing to make or imagine anymore. For the winter holiday I made a list of everything creative I wanted to cram into one month. I started with reading multiple Nylon magazines & finished by designing & fabricating an entire hooded coat. I was hooked again & there was no way I was going to forget how much creating my own designs made me happy.
Since then I’ve sewn myself dresses by staring at a mannequin for days on end, sketched from scribbles to keep my mind creatively active, & started addictively crocheting again even through my travels.
A weird little fact about me? I grew up with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. As a kid, my joints would hurt to the point where I wouldn’t want to move them anymore. My joints still hurt occasionally & my body really doesn’t like the cold. My hands tend to be in the most pain still but I try to work through it & always remember to stretch.
